Uncontacted Fossil
A geological complex made from the soil of planet Venus.
The research for this work began in 2018 during my residency at the Leiden Astronomical Observatory, where I had the opportunity to collaborate with astrophysicists to investigate the chemical composition of the soils of planets such as Venus, Mars, and Mercury. This extraterrestrial soil was then used as clay, raw material to be shaped and burnt, transforming it into a new large-scale ceramic piece inspired by geological formations.
Uncontacted Fossil’s monumental scale and abstract form become an environment in itself.
Within it lives an artificial life form: a small six-legged robot that tirelessly explores this alien terrain.
Uncontacted Fossil
Clay whose mineral composition replicates that of the planet Venus.
